| Autism spectrum disorders are a group of neurodevelopmental disorders with a complex and heterogeneous etiology. Studies have shown that genetic factors play an important role in the aetiology of these diseases. Recently, de novo mutations, frameshifts and deletions have been described in the SHANK3 gene, also known as ProSAP2 gene, which encodes a synaptic scaffolding protein. All the participants of this study had normal karyotypes and underwent screening for Fragile-X syndrome. Subsequently, they were analyzed by direct sequencing of different points of exons 8 and 22 of the SHANK3 gene. None of the study participants presented with changes in these regions. | This report summarizes the 2010 results of the North Dakota Land Valuation Model. The model is used annually to estimate average land values by county, based on the value of production from cropland and non-cropland. The county land values developed from this procedure form the basis for the 2010 valuation of agricultural land for real estate tax assessment. The average all agricultural land value from this analysis is multiplied by the total acres of agricultural land on the county abstract to determine each county’s total agricultural land value for taxation purposes. | På oppdrag fra Relelverksutvalget for økologisk produksjon (RVU) har Bioforsk utført en vurdering av fordeler og ulemper knyttet til luftekravet for okser i økologisk produksjon, samt en utredning av mulige løsninger for lufting av okser. I tillegg er det utført en vudering av alternative metoder for produksjon av økologisk storfekjøtt, for eksempel produksjon av kastrat-, kvige- og kalvekjøtt. Økologisk produksjon av storfekjøtt er vurdert med bakgrunn i kravet om lufting av okser. | In order to study the detailed morphology of trophoblast cells during human implantation, BeWo cells were cultured as spheroids in suspension culture. These cultures were then processed for light and electron microscopical examination. The present study showed that the BeWo spheroids consist of two cell types which are cytotrophoblast-like and syncytiotrophoblast-like. The cells with larger nuclear diameter made up only about 1% of the cell population and appear to be those of syncytiotrophoblast. Therefore the predominant cell type of the BeWo spheroids appeared to be relatively undifferentiated and cytotrophoblast-like. | Avaliou-se o ganho de peso de novilhas mestiças, 1/4 Simental e 3/4 Nelore, empregando-se o método experimental de esterilização, que consiste na introdução intrauterina de esferas inoxidáveis. Foram utilizadas 100 novilhas nulíparas, destinadas ao abate, com idades entre 12 e 24 meses e com média de peso de 275kg. Todos os animais receberam o mesmo manejo alimentar, em sistema de pastejo em Brachiaria brizantha, com água e sal mineral ad libitum, e pesagens a intervalos de 28 dias, obedecido o jejum prévio de 16 horas. | Comparative efficacy of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) crude powder and salinomycin sodium on the occurrence of coccidiosis and growth performance of broiler was evaluated. A total of 90, day-old chicks were randomly divided into six groups. From first day onward, ration was supplemented with 1, 2 and 3 % turmeric powder in groups 2, 3 and 4, respectively, group 1 received salinomycin sodium @ 12 g 50 kg-1 feed while groups 5 and 6 were kept as infected un-medicated and uninfected un-medicated controls. | Regularmente se analiza la producción triguera argentina para conocer su calidad industrial, pero no se comparan formalmente los efectos del cultivar, localidad, año y sus interacciones. El objetivo de este estudio fue cuantificar la magnitud de los efectos de esos factores. Durante tres campañas se realizaron experimentos, en cuatro localidades con ocho cultivares. | Trece genotipos de Bromus catharticus Vahl. (cebadilla criolla) se evaluaron, durante 3 años, utilizando un diseño experimental completamente aleatorizado con seis repeticiones para estimar parámetros estadísticos y genéticos. Por planta individual se analizaron los siguientes caracteres: número de macollos, número de panojas, número de espiguillas por espiga, número de semillas llenas, número de semillas totales, peso de 1000 semillas, largo de la panoja, ancho de hoja bandera y largo de hoja bandera.
